As soon as lockdown ended Jess and Rhys couldn't wait any longer to get married and quickly arranged their whole wedding day in just a week. They wrote custom vowels for each other- and they each hadn't seen what they would be promising until the moment!
We were introduced by a mutual friend. It was at a water ski race in Robinvale. We spent the weekend together getting to know each other. Funny enough out first big date after becoming official was at a ski race presentation night.
Our engagement also involved water skiing. It couldn’t have been any more perfect! It was the 29 September (the water was still very cold!) and Rhys asked me to get out the back with him for us to have a ski together. Whilst we were out there on the ski Rhys got down on one knee (yep whilst still skiing!) and asked me to marry him… even putting a ring on my finger (a fake plastic one of course)
Our wedding was planned as a very laid back rustic wedding which is very us. Lots of DIY… luckily Rhys is a builder. We had wood fire pizza for the menu. We want a day that reflected us and our chilled out style
What are we most looking forward to? Ultimately to become husband and wife! My all time favourite part of a wedding is seeing the grooms face when the bride begins to walk down the aisle. This has to be the part I am looking forward to the most and we both can’t wait for the moment we are pronounced as Mr and Mrs Duggan and get to walk back down the aisle
Top Tips
Don’t forget it’s you and your finances day.
Make sure the day suits who you are as people as it’s a day you will remember for the rest of your life. And don’t sweat the small stuff! No one knows there was meant to be an extra candle on the tables, just have fun with it and enjoy sharing your special day with your most loved ones
